The 2004 Makeover With A Mission

Reveal Party
The stunning results created for three women by a dream team of Atlanta makeover artists were unveiled at the 2004 Makeover With A Mission Reveal Party. The event was produced much like the reveal celebrations on the hit ABC TV show, “Extreme Makeover,” but with a unique twist – the event benefited Family Haven, a local domestic violence shelter for women and children as well as Face-to-Face, a program that provides plastic surgery to women who have been disfigured by domestic abuse.
Sponsored by Northside Hospital, the event really began a number of months ago. After evaluating applications from a wide field of candidates vying to be selected, three deserving ladies from the Atlanta area -- Martha English, Carol Girardey and Susanne Morgan -- were selected to receive a true Cinderella-like experience. Each received their wish list of top to bottom makeover procedures by a dream team of doctors: Dr. Burke Robinson (facial plastic surgery), Drs. Debra Gray King and Richard Creasman (cosmetic dentistry), Drs. Diane Alexander and Bernadette Ashraf (body plastic surgery), and Dr. Faroog Ashraf (vision correction surgery) along with a talented team of hair and makeup artists, stylists and a personal trainer.
The candidates’ big reveal celebration was held at Villa Christina in the Perimeter area, where a hub of excitement and anticipation grew as their friends and family awaited their unveiling. Popular morning radio show hosts, Gene & Julie of 94.9 Lite FM, were on hand to MC the event and announce the candidates. Gene & Julie also had the pleasure of helping to select and following the progress of the candidates through each stage of the makeovers and couldn’t wait to see the final results. “It was just incredible to see the combined results of the work of such a gifted team of doctors and makeover specialists. These doctors not only gave their time and effort to help these candidates, but also some exceptionally worthwhile charities,” remarked Gene.
In addition to the silent and live auction held earlier in the evening, the true highlight of the night was when the new Martha, Carol and Susanne were revealed. The audience was captivated by the amazing transformations. “My work has never looked better than when it was combined with all the other procedures,” declared Dr. Robinson, “As you can see from the photos, the results were truly remarkable.” Through hugs and tears of joy from well-wishers, family and loved ones, the candidates showed that dramatic changes had occurred not only in their out-worldly appearance, but also in their obvious boost of self-esteem.
