FEMALE COSMETIC DENTIST SELECTED
FOR ABC'S NEW HIT SHOW "EXTREME MAKEOVER"
Atlanta, GA - Dr. Debra Gray King has been selected as part of a world-renowned team of doctors and makeover specialists for the new ABC Television Network series, "Extreme Makeover." On the show, winning candidates' looks will be completely changed in a Cinderella-like experience, as they are able to transform their lives and destinies and make their dreams come true.
Following nationwide open casting calls and over 7000 applicants, lucky individuals are chosen for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to participate in "Extreme Makeover." Each episode features two different people, first in their "before" phase, then as they undergo their various procedures, and finally, when the end results are revealed to their families.
The makeovers are all accomplished through the skills of a dream team of doctors -- a plastic surgeon, an eye surgeon and a cosmetic dentist, along with a talented team of hair and makeup artists, stylists and personal trainers. To the candidates, it is all done free and in front of millions of interested viewers. "As a smile designer, it's gratifying to make a difference in each of these peoples' lives and participate in the show," said Dr. King upon hearing of her selection for the show.
ABC's original one-hour special, "Extreme Makeover" attracted an average of 13.2 million viewers when ABC aired it on December 11, 2002, winning its hour among Adults 18-49 and beating NBC's "West Wing" by 14%. Following the tremendous success of the original show, ABC scheduled the series programs to air on Wednesdays at 10/9 Central. The series debut of Extreme Makeover on April 23, 2003 was the number one program in its time period beating NBC's Law & Order by 38% in Adults 18-34. As an indication of the future momentum the show may build, Extreme Makeover gained viewers from beginning to end.
