What does CANI have to do with dentistry? Think about this…Have you ever called a dental office and were greeted in just not a very friendly way? Did they seem like they had time for you or were happy to help you out? Or maybe even you been into the dental office and had experience meeting the doctors meeting the assistance and, you know, their expertise and customer service was just lacking?
You won’t get this at Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry – we believe in constant improvement! Or CANI as we like to call it!
Here at the ACCD, we pride ourselves on a lot of things. But mainly we pride ourselves on our patient care, and our attention to detail. Many people don’t realize that the business part of a dental practice actually does relate to the end result the patient achieved.

Many, many years ago, when the practice of the Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry was in its infancy, Dr. King developed this vision that still lives today. It’s the foundation of our culture. And, it drives our commitment to excellence in everything we do. It is a part of a handful of practice standards that we employ every day.
Our vision is to be the world’s leader in cosmetic dentistry. One of the ways we accomplish this is by the elite training and skill of our doctors. Further, we want all of our doctors to be accredited by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and this has been accomplished with our current staff. That is a a rigorous training process that very few dentists end up going through in the country.
Next, is our team selection. Something Dr. King developed a long time ago was learning about the customer service standard of the Ritz Carlton. Over time, she adapted and employed many of their processes within the practice. Therefor, we select the best people in the country for each position. There is a rigorous search process and selection process in place.
Further, is making sure there is excellence in those we work with. There are certain masters ceramics in the country, that, like our doctors, are trained and have a skill set. They use the finest porcelains available to fabricate the beautiful smile designs that our patients have.
Lastly, but not least, at all, is the exceptional care that we provide our patients. Our vision, while it’s framed in a beautiful frame in our main hallway, it really does live within the hearts and minds of everyone in the practice.
Using CANI for Consistent Improvement
While the goal is to maintain all parts of the vision, we know that there is always room for growth. Only through growth can be continuously improve and increase the excellence that is provided to our patience.
We provide an elite service and our training is elite. Here, we practice with honor, which is the respect and the trust. Further we believe in CANI.
So what does CANI stand for?
It is an acronym for Constant and Never Ending Improvement. You may have heard high profile motivational speakers use this. Tony Robbins, for example, is a big believer in constant and never ending improvement. This generates and energizes throughout the ACCD practice daily. For example, every morning, before patients arrive, the team has a stand up huddle. Within that huddle, every team member reviews in advance a piece of our system or vision, or a task that they are responsible for. Then, they bring that information to the huddle and as a team, we go over the entire day. It may include talking about each patient – how can we go over and above for them during their appointment, or even just greeting each other.
CANI makes everyone show up each and every day. And we believe in daily coaching to accomplish this. Some ways we coach are through peer coaching, daily videos, there is even a wall in the office of books, books on tape, etc. that is available to every member of the team. We go way above and beyond those standards of continuing education for our doctors, our team members, so that we can provide the best for our patients.
It is apparent how this plays into the results that our patients achieve in their small designs and how they feel about their experience with us from the first phone call all the way through. There are so many ways that we go above and beyond for our patients that display the cores of our vision. We strive for our elite status that we practice and we honor that we are leaders that are focused on constant and never ending improvement.
