Below is a letter to Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry Doctors regarding Invisalign and the response from our highly trained cosmetic team.

I’m wondering if I can get Invisalign or if I will have to go back to braces. I wore braces from ages 15-17. After the braces were taken off, I wore my retainer diligently, but over the past 3 years, I haven’t been consistent with it. Now I’m 26 years old and my lower teeth are starting to lean to the right and overlap like they used to. Will I have to wear braces again as an adult, or is this something Invisalign can correct? I hate the idea of needing braces, but I’ll do it if I have to. Thanks. Micah

Micah,

You’re not alone in neglecting to wear your retainer after several years of doing so diligently. One study shows that after 19 to 24 months, one out of five patients stops wearing their retainer. As time goes by, an increasing number of people stop wearing their retainer.

Will Invisalign Work?

Although one of our cosmetic dentists would need to examine your teeth to be certain, you might be a candidate for Invisalign.

Invisalign aligners

People who wore braces in the past and need corrective treatment get great results with Invisalign. After treatment, you will need to be diligent about wearing a retainer to maintain the position of your teeth.

Advantages of Invisalign

Most people who have worn braces and later wear Invisalign quickly recognize the advantages:

  • Faster treatment time
  • Precise alignment
  • Fewer checkup appointments
  • Virtually invisible aligners
  • Much more comfortable than traditional braces
  • Removable for eating and for oral hygiene

We invite you to schedule a consultation with one of our cosmetic dentists to see if  you’re a candidate for this treatment, you’ll be scheduled for an exam and 3-D images of your teeth. It won’t be long before you’ll receive a treatment plan and clear aligners to correct your teeth and restore your smile.
