Atlanta Center for Cosmetic Dentistry provides some of the most effective and natural methods of improving your smile. We provide solutions to cover discolored teeth, remove stains and discoloration, repair cracks, and provide an overall smile transformation.

Our Atlanta veneers are currently one of the best methods of transforming your smile. These are tooth-colored and tooth-shaped attachments placed over your existing teeth to transform their appearance. When people look at you, they’ll see nothing but a Hollywood smile.

We provide two types of dental veneers — traditional porcelain veneers and prepress ultra-thin veneers. But how do these types of dental veneers differ, and which one should you get?

Traditional Porcelain Veneers

Traditional porcelain veneers are tooth-colored porcelain wafers attached to the front face of your teeth. These veneers permanently bond to your teeth, transforming their appearance. Porcelain is the preferred material for dental veneers because it’s highly durable and translucent, resembling the color and texture of actual enamel. Porcelain is even more stain-resistant than actual teeth, so it’s more likely to remain white for a longer period.

Before your porcelain veneers attachment, our cosmetic dentist will inspect your gums and teeth to design the perfect set of dental veneers. This is necessary to ensure that the final porcelain veneers fit naturally into your mouth. Once the porcelain veneers are prepared, the dentist will remove some surface enamel from your teeth to prepare them for the veneers. After shaving off some of the surface enamel, the cosmetic dentist will attach the porcelain veneers over your teeth. The porcelain veneers will be permanently bonded over your teeth.

Prepless Ultra-Thin Veneers

Prepless ultra-thin veneers offer similar aesthetic and cosmetic benefits as traditional porcelain veneers. These veneers are also attached to the front face of your teeth, covering up all stains, discoloration, cracks, and other dental problems.

However, prepress ultra-thin veneers are so slim that there’s no need to remove some of your existing enamel. The dentist won’t need to file down your existing teeth, making the procedure reversible. If you want to get the ultra-thin veneers removed later, you can revert to your original teeth.

So what’s the difference?

Both traditional porcelain veneers and ultra-thin veneers are highly effective at removing all dental aesthetic problems. However, they have two primary differences:
Preparation: Traditional porcelain veneers can only be attached after the dentist files down some of your healthy tooth enamel. Prepless ultra-thin veneers don’t need any filing or shaving off of enamel.
Reversible: Traditional porcelain veneers are permanent because your underlying teeth are filed down. Prepless ultra-thin veneers are reversible because the underlying teeth aren’t modified.
