Below is a question from a patient of another dental practice about using same-day crowns to improve the appearance of uneven teeth.
My bottom teeth are even except for one tooth that has grown higher than the others. I think it’s probably at least 1/8 inch longer than the others. It’s very noticeable because it’s close to the center, so I want to get it corrected. I’m wondering if same-day crowns on either side of the long one will prevent it from being so noticeable. It is hard to say without seeing you if crowns would be the best solution. It could be that cosmetic reshaping or contouring is all that is needed to align your longer bottom tooth with the others. We recommend finding an accredited cosmetic dentist to examine your smile for possible solutions.
For reshaping and contouring, the cosmetic dentist will use a laser or sanding drill to carefully shape your tooth. When it’s even with the teeth on either side of it, it will be smoothed and polished. The procedure is painless, quick, and inexpensive.
